Hey Ladies...

It has been brought to my attention that now is the time for me to pack the hospital bag. This came in the form of all the moms in my office laughing at me when I mentioned that I have not yet packed a bag, and yes I only have 30 days to go, why do you ask? It was neat.

Anyway, I understand the need for the basics here: toiletries, robe, slippers, etc., but does anyone have any "OMG, if I didn't have my trusty *insert life-saving item here* I would have diiiiied" items? I'm aware that showing up without my favorite chap-stick will not result in death, but I bet I'd at least be sort of cranky about it once I realized it was missing. Advice please!

  1. Yeah, chapstick...take it, have it nearby, AT ALL TIMES! And maybe a water bottle...hmmm...I also needed snacks because I was in labor A LONG TIME.

  2. Clothes to bring the baby home in. Both kinds, boys and girls. Be careful which clothes you choose to wear out of the hospital. Those black yoga pants will be perfect! Mom

  3. Bring a comfy pillow!!! The hospital ones always freakin suck so bring your own, multiple pillows. Trust me. Love ya! Claire

  4. Remember that snickers bar I gave you? You will need chocolate and gum. Don't forget to bring your cool socks and granny underwear.

  5. You really don't need to worry about a bag, since you live here in town. Kyle can get anything you need in five minutes or less. And what I think is horribly wrong with the world is that baby boys never get to wear pink and baby girls never get to wear blue or WORSE they have to wear green or yellow!!! IMHO

  7. SNACKS! They're not going to let you eat much, if at all, while your in labor. We smuggled snacks in, though, and boy was that a lifesaver. Especially after delivery...when Logan was born it was just before midnight and I was starving since I hadn't eaten a meal for 12 hours. All the hospital had to offer at that time of night was a fruit cup which was good, but not enough to hold me over till breakfast. I was thankful for my peanut butter and honey sandwiches we packed! FYI: Eating honey is a good way to give you a boost of energy if they don't let you eat and your getting tired from long labor. Just pack a spoon and eat a little of it every now and then. Also, bring music. Each room is equipped with a CD player and you might just appreciate the distraction or calming effect of the music of your choosing.
